The Lake District, Cumbria, has done it again… winning Top UK Destination 2015, by Wanderlust Travel Awards,
Julia presented the awards at The Holiday & Travel Show, Olympia, London on the 29th of January.
Jan Wilkinson, owner of Honister Slate Mine, Borrowdale, kindly collected the award on behalf of Cumbria Tourism later in the week, when she attended a charity event in aid of The Willow Foundation and Outdoor Trust.
On presenting the award to her dear friend Jan to be transported back to the Lakes, Julia, said: “I couldn’t be more pleased for this award to go to somewhere that is so close to my heart and over the years has played such a large part in my life – a very deserving winner.’’
Julia hosted the Great Big Swinging Ball at the Intercontinental on Saturday – the last charity appearance before the birth of the twins! At the same time she was able to present Jan from Honister Slate mine with the award from Wanderlust Readers for best UK destination. Cumbria.
The Great Big Swinging Ball is a fundraising event in aid of national charity, Willow. The monies raised from the ball will fund life affirming Special Days for those in current treatment for cancer aged 24 and under. Every Special Day aims to lift spirits, return lost confidences and allow them and their families to reunify and create the treasured memories that will sustain them through the difficult times ahead.
Julia has just been appointed Ramblers Worldwide Holidays first ‘roving ambassador’.
“It’s fantastic to be the first roving ambassador for Ramblers Worldwide Holidays, a real privilege, and I’m delighted to be involved with an operator which shares my love of hiking and does so much to support environmental conservation projects in the UK and community projects overseas.”
Julia Bradbury has revealed in an exclusive interview and photoshoot in HELLO! magazine, that she is pregnant with twins. Julia is due to give birth next Spring, giving her and partner Gerard Cunningham two siblings for their three-year-old son Zephyrus.
"I’m completely overjoyed," Julia told HELLO!. "The prospect of having two for one is just incredible. "Starting later in life having children, I didn’t ever think I’d have a big family. Zeph was the unexpected miracle and I was thrilled and happy to have him. It’s taken a long time to get to this stage so the prospect of going from one to three is utterly amazing."
