Feedback about Wainwright Walks

Dear Julia,

I’m writing to thank you for truly inspiring both myself and my partner over the last few months to go and get out in the countryside!
Our story ... Over the winter period, my partner was one of the many who sadly lost their jobs due to the credit crisis, this combined with the repeated scare-mongering of the news (I’m sure you know what I mean) didn’t help our team moral!  It was not the best of times ...
However, when we came across your “walks” programmes on the BBC, they gave us focus, inspiration, and something new to aim for. The programmes are beautifully filmed, intelligent and simply fantastic! As a city-type, It was very hard to convince my partner that from my own experiences, climbing over Striding Edge in winter was awe inspiring ... it wasn’t me that proved it ... it was you!
Since then, I’m very glad to say, things are looking up on all aspects. We already have several walks under our belt, off again tomorrow (into the local peaks, to hike and camp not far from Holmfirth), and have camping trips and walks planned throughout the summer. We’ve even organised the walks you did on Blencathra and across Portland for later in the year.
I received a text today from my partner to thank me for introducing him to the great outdoors, and that he’s glad I’m in his life. That moved me so much. But I just wanted to thank you, cause without seeing those programmes, none of this would have happened. So thank you. Thanks for giving us inspiration and a new lease of energy. Thanks for truly great programmes in a world of TV doom and gloom. I hope you know the great work you're doing, and what a true star you are. I hope there are many more walks to come ...!
Finally, Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, it’s been a pleasure writing it. With very best regards
Andrew Holt, West Yorkshire
